The Best and Worst of the Week

I had been doing a great job with keeping up on doing my picks on the Best and the Worst of the Week in good ‘ole Phil’s Place. Then, both of my lives got a little hectic and all the good and bad just rolled into one big blur. However, this week life calmed down a tad, and I was able to come up with what was the Best and the Worst for the last week of May.

The Best of the Week goes to Juicy’s release of their “Slingback Pumps.” I LOVED their “Classic Pumps,” so when a fat-pack of these new lovelies was dropped on me, I thought I had just died and gone to shoe heaven. The design of the shoe is simple and sexy, and the colors are just yummy. I honestly can’t decide on a fave color! Pictured are the colors “Cotton Candy” and “Bubblegum.”

 

My Worst of the Week goes to the Flickr group “Thinspo.” The fact that someone is glamourizing and encouraging anorexia in a virtual world where (atleast I thought) the idea is to be whoever/whatever you please is just disgusting to me. However, the sickest part of this group to me was their images of “thinsparation”-celebrities and models that are an unhealthy thin.

These Pants Rock My Pants Off!?!

I love Thimbles. It’s quirky fun quality fashion at a cheap price. I also love how generous they are to their group members. The above outfit was a group gift over the weekend, baring the warning “trash if you don’t like, work in progress.” Don’t like? I love love love these pants! Even though it was a freebie, they came with tons of options~high-waisted (shown), low-waisted, suspenders. And, even came with oodles of colors of camis. It was instant love. My only complaint, or rather plea, is this…Give Me More! I want these pants in as many colors as possible! I want to live in these pants, sleep in these pants and (if possible) have sex in these pants. Melatonin Hax and Apatia Hammerer, if you somehow come across my blog and my plea to you, I am on my virtual knees getting virtual rug burn begging you to make more of these pants. Thank you!

Everything But Water

In the US, this past weekend was Memorial Day aka the unOfficial Start of Summer aka the start of bathing suit season. Last week I had to go shopping for bathing suits iRL, and well, I don’t think there is enough alcohol in the world to ever make that a pleasant experiance. But, in Phil’s Place, bathing suit shopping rocks! And, if you actually feel like your avi is looking fat, all you have to do is move the sliders! Anyway, I picked 3 bathing suits out of my inventory in 3 different styles to share with you all!

The first bathing suit is your typical teeny-weeny-itsy bikini. It is the “Tint My Hearts Kini” from Surf Couture. If I had to make an assumption, I would say that this one is very popular with the guys from how many views it has gotten on my Flickr page.

For a more athletic, yet still sexy look, I went with Reaction’s “Skullie’s Bikini Set.” I love the swimwear at Reaction! They are perfect if you are a surfer chick, or if you are like me and just like to play one!

I have to say, this third bathing suit is my fave. I love the detailing and the old Hollywood feel to it. This is PixelDoll’s “Gloss Indigo” and was a group gift. It probably is not still available in the subscribe-o-matic (as I have a tendency to take forever to open boxes and try on clothes), but you can buy it in store. I would definitly recommend getting this suit~it’s the perfectly sexy glamorous look for any pool party.

Lemon Meets Lime

     I don’t usually blog freebies, just because between Free*Style and FabFree, they pretty much have them all covered. However, when I put on this whole outfit that was basically free and cute, I just had to blog it.

     The outfit is from AnnaH Couture’s new satellite location in the HoH Mall (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Tropical%20Escape/130/172/22) and is called “Vannessa.” It comes with tons of layers and different options of how to wear it: with the jacket and tube, the tube by itself, or the jacket by itself. If you look really close at my nails in the pic, they were free as well. Candy Nails (http://slurl.com/secondlife/LOVE%20TOKYO/114/51/22) is offering a free manicure (gloves) in Yellow/Green. While there, check out the other nails~they had tons of cute nails and toes for great prices! In the background, is the laundry set DP YumYum had out recently in a hunt. As for the other items pictured, I did pay for them. The hair is Maitreya’s “Mayte,” the shoes are Juicy’s “Classic Pumps in Green Pea,” and the skin is Fleur’s “Vivant Almond Blossom 1.”

WooT There It Is

   Yesterday was the conclusion to WooT’s Idol Contest. And what better way to conclude a contest than to have a party and have FACES models show off your latest designs? Well, there is no better way, so that’s exactly what WooT’s owner MissPure Voom did. I was lucky enough to place third in the contest (big Congrats to second place Dansgurl GossipGirl and first place LauraRose GossipGirl!) AND get my greedy little hands on some of the soon-to-be-released spring collections.

   This first dress is a gift that was given out at the party. It is called the “GossipGirl Babydoll” and is perfect for any GossipGirl or any of you with a GossipGirl inside of you waiting to come out. If you sneak over to the store you may still be able to get it. If not, hopefully it will be realesed soon because it is adorable!

   Keeping with the white and silver theme is “Asia Spring.” It comes with two different skirt lengths, the mini and micro mini. I went for the oh-so-sexy micro mini.

   For a little bit of color, is WooT “Fantasies.” I absolutely adore this dress! I love the sequins, shades of blue, and the sexy little ruffles. The dress also comes with the gloves, that nicely finish the outfit.

   From a little color, to a little pattern is “Printemps.” This is the perfect spring dress- it’s short and has the sweetest pastel colored pattern. The detailing around the neck and shoulder is gorgeous, as well.

   If that wasn’t enough color for you, here is “Crazy 70’s.” I don’t think you can get much more color than this! This is one of those fun dresses that you can dress down with flip-flops or dress up with a pair of heels. And, you are sure to stand out in this pattern!

   I know you all are eager to run out and buy these amazing dresses, but unfortunetly you will have to wait. And The Drama Goes On…

     I joined SL back in October of ’07. At that time, I needed a place to come to escape RL. In my RL, I had finally hit a wall and knew I needed to change. I admited that I was suffering from depression, and sought the proper help. I realized that I had an addiction problem to alcohol, weed, and cocaine. To clean up my life, I had to leave behind friendships because they were enablers.

     I came to SL to get that break I needed from RL. For me, finding myself in a virtual world, has helped me find myself in ways that I would have never imagined possible. However, days like today force me to see that SL is not that different from RL. People are mean, dramatic, and just as hypocritical iSL as they are iRL, if not more so. I log on to SL to take a step back from RL, not to be bombarded with dramatic group notices, warnings of being careful what I comment on other blogs, and being told what to wear. Days like today make me want to leave SL. People do not realize the impact that their words have on others, and carelessly hit enter before they really think about what they have just typed. We may all just be “avatars” iSL, but behind that avatar is a real person. That real person has feelings. And although your words are just typed, they do carry just as much weight.

     This is my plea on my little blog for all of us residents of SL to step back and take a look at the big picture. While this may be a saying from the olden days, it really is a saying to live your real and virtual life by: Do until others as you would have others do until you. We all have drama iRL, let’s try to keep it out of SL as much as possible.

Bijou Disco

Today I went on a whirl-wind shopping spree. I got my invite to WooT’s Idol Party, in which I am a finalist, and set out to find the perfect outfit (the theme is Cannes-Luv it!). While I did find the perfect outfit, which I’m not showing you until AFTER the party, I also found some great outfits. One of the many stores I stopped by today was Bijou. Their clothes are young, fresh, fun, and come with tons of options. Here are two of the outfits I bought, and aren’t taking off anytime soon.

I’m a sucker for vests and a sucker for metalics, so I hit “buy” on this outfit as soon as I saw it. This is “Siren (Follow Me).” You can also wear it without the vest.

I also love shorts, and had eyed this sexy little number on the blogs. This is “Focus (Skull).” This outfit is completley versatile, with many different options for you to wear it. You can wear the shirt sleeveless and take off the socks (they were too fun-I had to wear them).

Time To Get Out the Nair

It’s warm! Spring is here! That means that it’s time to pull out those shorts! I have picked three of my favorite pairs of shorts to show ya’ll. (Considering my last post was on my three fave pairs of flats, I guess it’s safe to say all good things come in three.)

I avoided denim shorts on purpose. With so many colors and materials that designers are making shorts with, I felt like showing all some of the great styles. The first pair of shorts are from Cashmere. The shirt is included, and the outfit is called “Jora.” Also included in the set are a pair of red tights (not pictured).

I love the new short sets that Armidi has come out with. I had the hardest time not buying them all! There are so many great color choices. I ended up settling on the “Cambridge-Aufren Light Grey.” I love the gold and silver together, and the prim sleeves and collar are perfect. I opted not to wear the prim cuffs on the shorts, because they gave me more trouble than they were worth.

 

The last pair of shorts I picked out is technically a jumper. This is Emery’s “Jumpersuit in Turqoise.” I love the color on this! The wrinkling and tie around the neck really add to the realism of the jumper.

Standing on Flatter Ground

     While in Phil’s Place, I usually wear heels as much as I can. I love heels in both worlds and the fact that I don’t get virtual blisters makes me love them even more. However, every once in awhile it is fun to switch it up and wear flats. I decided to share with ya’ll my three favorite pair of flats-in no particular order 😉

 

     The first pair of flats are the “Funny Girl” flats from Periquita. These have been blogged a few times before, but they are so great they deserved to be blogged again. The pointed toe on them is fabulous, and all the colors they come in are absolutely yummy. I have the red (pictured) and cyan, so far, but buying more colors is always a possibility!

     The second pair of flats is the “Scultpted Ballet Flats” from Surf Co. These flats are simple and easy to dress up and down. They come with a set with buttons (pictured) or without.

     The third and final pair of flats come from Veschi. They are simply named “Flats.” The best part about this particular pair of flats is that they are color changable. For one low price, you can have a pair of flats to go with every outfit.

     While this post is about shoes, I just have to mention the dress pictured. While shopping in Big Booty Big Money the other day, I felt the urge to wonder. I usually don’t wonder because this often ends in impulse buys. This dress is one, but I love it! This dress is from DP Serendipity, which was a couple of doors down from BBBM. The dress is called “Ame-OdeKake” and the coloring is so much fun.
