Purple RFL Goodness

Other than the usual pink items and items fitting the pirate theme at this years  RFL Clothing Fair, I found another popular design choice- purple. I actually prefer purple over pink, so I was excited to see so many purple choices to choose from. Two of the purple styles I picked up were from Devilish Cupcake and StoRin.

 

I’ve enjoyed the designs from Devilish Cupcake for around a year now. After awhile of no new releases, they made a great comeback at the Clothing Fair with the Mermaid Sweater Dress. The dress has a bit of an 80’s feel to it, so I kept up that theme by pairing it with leggings from maeva.

 

The second purple look comes from StoRin (formerly Annah Couture). StoRin’s RFL Exclusive includes the purse, belt, and pants. To finish off the look, I added a plain black tube from maeva and flats from ETD.

 

Also, once again I’m wearing a skin from the Eden line from Genesis. This time I’m wearing the Rockstar make-up in the Pepper skin tone.

Getting into the Warm Flow

My mom and sister spent all of last week in St. Maartin’s as an early graduation vacation for my sister. I think their island stay has subconsciously filtered over to my SL. I bought a teeny-tiny-baby island last week and dressed myself in clothes that scream summer while I landscaped and decorated to my heart’s content.

When I saw Ornamental Life’s new Fiddler Skirt, I had to have it. It’s the perfect skirt for a casual summery look. I liked the skirt so much I ended up buying it in Teardrop and Gypsy Smile-and wore the two all of last week. I paired Teardrop with the barely there Tera from *Boom*. I dug through my inventory and found Cupcakes Flared Top in Gold to pair with Gypsy Smile. The shirt does have a flared prim bottom-but I chose to wear it without it. The hair is two of the current must-have styles from Maitreya– Faye and Piper, both shown in Charcoal. The skins are from Tuli’s latest, Natalie, shown in Pale. I love this skin so much that I actually bought every make-up (something I have NEVER done!).

With Teardrop, I chose to for-go any accessories. However, with Gypsy Smile, HooT’s new Rose Cuff in Desert Sand matched so perfectly that I had to wear it. Due to a SL glitch, the prims on the rose were given no justice in the full-body shots. However, the close-up above really shows off the details put into the roses.

 

Also, I wanted to note that all of the poses used above are from Flowey– a newer pose shop that is quickly filling up my pose-stands!

styled Blue

Lately, I feel like all I’ve done is work-work-work. All the work iRL inspired this look that could easily be worn to work. I chose different shades of blue, because blue is said to be a calming color. When you are busy at work, all the calming vibes one can get is worth it!

The look started with Maitreya’s High Skirt-a great example of a system skirt done right. The shirt is actually a corset from PixelDolls, The New Zero Secret Boudoir in Cool. It is one of the things I grabbed during their 50L sale. As for accessories, I chose to keep it simple. Annah’s Couturehas re-branded to .:Storin:. which meant tons of new releases. Included in the new releases was the Luna Clutch, shown here in Blue. The necklace was a review copy dropped on me from Sable Rose. The necklace is called Sunset Opal, and it is a great statement piece with it’s large gorgeous stone.

Called to the Books

Sometimes I seriously wonder how so many of you bloggers go to school, work, raise kids, have a social life, and still manage to blog. I’m lucky lately if I can actually throw a plurkin my day. In other words, I’ve been a terrible blogger. Thank gawd I don’t have high expectations for myself when it comes to actually putting a blog out.

This is an outfit I grabbed from Ornamental Life during the Heart of Lovefundraiser. I decided to blog this outfit for two reasons today-the first being the fact that school has consumed my life as of late and the second being that Ornamental Life’sShir is going in for her surgery today.

The outfit is called Called to Blackboard. Blackboard is the name of a site where most of my teachers post notes and assignments, and I’m often called to this damn site to keep my grades up. I paired the outfit with my trusty FNKYglasses, that are a tad similar to the glasses I had to finally get in real life (yay! gone are the days of squinting like a dork to see the board!). The shoes are from Royal Blue and are one of the greatest lucky chair gifts I’ve ever received. I threw them in the mix to add a tad bit of color to my otherwise dark look.

Heart of Love-Ornamental Life take Two

Heart of Love is going strong! So far L680,729 has been raised! Today, I am (once again) showing items from Ornamental Life. The poses I used are all from Long Awkward Pose. Dove has marked down tons of pose packs that are soon to be retired, and all proceeds from them will go to HoL. Warm and Snuggly

It’s been getting chilly wear I live. When it’s chilly iRL, it makes me dress a little warmer iSL. I love sweaters and I love little dresses, but iRL I hate the feel of sweaters-unless they are cashmere (i.e. I can’t afford it iRL). To make up for not being able to enjoy sweaters, I indulge in it iSL. The past couple days I was on a complete sweater dress kick.

 

The first day, I went with MichaMi’s Abigail. I threw on a scarf from the Maeva hunt to keep my neck warm. My legs, however, were forced to suffer the cold. I did keep my ankles warm with the Soho Boots from Maitreya.

 

The second sweater dress is from Riddle. I picked up this adorable Skully Argyle when they were having their recent sale. Once again, I paired the dress with a pair of Soho Boots. When I love a shoe, I tend to wear it a lot. Since the dress had a collar and cuffs, I wasn’t able to wear as much jewelry as I wanted to (I know, I know, I could have attached the jewelry elsewhere and edited it-but I’m too lazy). The ring is so much fun and a great statement piece. It is the Love Ring from Kandy Kitty. I wanted some fun earrings to go with the ring, so I ran to Fresh Baked Goods and grabbed their Bright Jelly Tots Dangle Earrings.

 

Other than the theme of wearing sweater dress and Maitreya’s Soho Boots, I also wore Rockberry skins and ETD hair with both looks. The first skin from Rockberry was from their Willow line, the second one from their Megan line (only available in their Lucky Chairs). The two hairstyles from ETD I wore were Yvette and Mia. I am seriously so thankful for their sale, since I decided to make the change from blonde to black hair (though now, I realized buying full color packs was to my advantage).

Double Dose of Cupcake

Cupcakesis one of those fabulous little stores that has kept me as a fan for about a year now. Since I’ve recently came back to SL, I knew I couldn’t run crazy around the grid and snap up all the new fashions. Instead, I went digging through my inventory (recent inventory woe: my whole folder devoted to full pant outfits has gone m.i.a…grr). Once arriving on my folder titled Cupcakes, I was able to keep myself dressed for two days.

The first outfit reminded me of something Katy Perry would wear. Ms. Perry is always in cute little rompers, and while I adore her style, it’s definitely not made for many people to duplicate iRL. Thank gawd for virtual fashion! This was a group gift from Cupcakes, but alas I don’t know the exact name. I know, bad blogger.

The outfit comes with three options for the top-suspenders, black belt, and silver belt. As you can see, I went with the black belt. Since it is fall, I threw on a pair of tights from a fat pack I picked up atIvalde.

The second outfit kinda just pulled itself together, and I honestly fell in love with it. Honestly, I had no idea what half of the items in my Cupcake folder looked like, so I was just putting on everything. Then, I stumbled upon this dress and knew this was going to be the foundation for my outfit. This dress was also a group gift from Cupcake. I must mention that there is a 250L joining fee for their group-but the gifts are plenty, so it more than pays for itself. Once again, since it is fall, I threw on my Short Leather Jacket from Cubic Effect to keep warm in this strapless dress. To keep my legs warm, I put on my SoHo Boots from Maitreya.

I also adore the hair I’m wearing! It’s the Lisa II style from ETD. And, I must add that the sale at ETD is insane! Everything is around 30L, so packs of everything are super cheap. I bought a ton and did not even dent my wallet! The necklace is a great piece I’ve had from JetDoll, but never wore. It is their Swallow Your Heart necklace. The skin is one of my faves from Tuli, the Sultry style of Emily.

The Great Grape Escape

Weekends are a time to escape from the normal icky routine of our week. I managed to escape to the desert outside of Digit Darkes. I know, big escape, huh?

This outfit came about because I knew I wanted to wear all of these pieces, as well as blog them. Lucky for me, they all looked great together. Shall we start from the feet up? The shoes were instant love. I really had wanted to avoid going to the Shoe Expo on the day it opened, but after seeing these babies from Maitreya, I had to go ASAP. I don’t know what to say about them, other than they are completely yummy and by purchasing them, I donated money to the ASPCA (I couldn’t have picked a better cause myself! Having 3 adopted doggies, this is one charity I love!).

Since I spent all my money on shoes, I dug thru my inventory for something I hadn’t worn, yet. This dress is based on a Cosmo magazine cover featuring Rihanna. It is from Pin Up Dolls, and is simply titled “Cosmo Dress.” It comes in an assortment of colors, but I’m a purple gal. I love the shade of purple on this dress, the texturing, the cute ruffling, and the lace detail around the bust. It is one cute dress! Finally, my hair! This is one of the first short style I have truly loved in awhile. When I started SL, my avi only wore short hair. I grew tired of the short styles out there, and eventually went a little longer. I recently got the “Sydney” style from Diveristy Hair (thank you again Aleri, you rock!), and I have honestly been wearing it for half a week straight now (I did wash my hair, TYVM). The new textures at Diversity are amazing, and the layering and movement is great on this style. I’ve always liked the hair styles there, but the blondes were never quite right. Now, they are perfect.

 

That’s all for my fashionable escape in the desert. Don’t worry about me getting to hot-I’ve already moved inside to Diversity to lay around on some of their couches.

Best and Worst of the Week

     Hello all! Yet again, we are closing another week in good ‘ole Phil’s Place. And, yet again, I have picked a Best and a Worst of the Week. Why do I do this weekly post, you ask? Because…well, just because I want to.

 

     The Best of the Week goes to Maitreya. I am in love love love with their new hair textures! I’ve been a fan of their shoes, but wasn’t too crazy about their hair. That is until this week! The new textures are pure perfection and look perfectly real. I want to reach into my computer screen and touch it. Also, the fact that they listen to their customers makes me like this brand even more. The “Loose Bun” was originally just used as a color demo. But, so many customers begged for it to be released as a style we could purchase, they did just that. And, all in about a weeks time. Great customer service and even better hair!

     For the Worst of the Week, I am going to go with all the “witch hunting” that has been going on with the blogs. Is Minnu Model Skins ripping off textures? Is it wrong that the Juicy Shoes used the term “Stiletto Moody” in their key words under search? Is Cachet ripping off RL designers? Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah…The amount of drama on the boards this week has been exceptionaly high. While I do believe the consumer has a right to know what they are buying, I think it is extremely unfair to the creators that their names are being dragged through the mud before they can even comment on whether it is true or not. Am I going to comment on what I think about MMS’s “stealing” or Juicy being “unethical”? Nope. I’m just going to call all this “he-said-she-said” the Worst of the Week, post my little blog, and go back to buying what I like because I like it (and hope that everyone else does the same).
