a lil Review: Convoitise

Ondeline Pera of Convoitisewas kind enough to drop some of her designs on me to review. I must admit, I had never heard of the store. But, as soon as I rezzed the vendors, I was impressed.

The first dress, Eva-White, was instantly my favorite. The sheer, loose sleeve made this more than just a normal white dress. I liked that the detailing continued down to the skirt.

The second dress I threw on was Veronique Red. This dress is definitely not for the modest! The deep v-neck and sheer skirt leave little to the imagination. This dress is perfect for those who want to wear something on the sexier side to one of the gazillion Christmas parties that are right around the corner.

The final dress is Bella V2. While this dress is still incredibly sexy, it is a little more covered up. The mesh parts up top give a flirty touch, while still covering the right places. The skirt is longer, and the length going from short to long is a nice touch.

 

I also received some costumes from Convoitise, and if all stays calm in my RL (Thanksgiving break is officially over for me on Tuesday), I should have those up for you during the week.

LOTD

So, I usually don’t do LOTD’s and I usually am kinda wordy. I don’t feel like it today, though. Other than giving the details of the outfit-which is a freebie, btw-I just wanted to say, I love my new custom shape! It was done by Averie Larnia of Hourglass (I know, I mention the store a lot, but I love supporting my friends). Currently she is charging 750L for her custom shapes. The best part is she offers free tweaking of your shape to go with different skins.

I love how I said I wasn’t going to be wordy, yet I just was a tad. Ok, on to the break down of the outfit:

The only thing I feel I should add is that the designer needs to work on her prims. I had bought another outfit I planned on posting, but after trying to edit the prims, there was just no helping it. She is a new designer, and I just wanted to throw in a little constructive criticism.

Warm and Snuggly

It’s been getting chilly wear I live. When it’s chilly iRL, it makes me dress a little warmer iSL. I love sweaters and I love little dresses, but iRL I hate the feel of sweaters-unless they are cashmere (i.e. I can’t afford it iRL). To make up for not being able to enjoy sweaters, I indulge in it iSL. The past couple days I was on a complete sweater dress kick.

 

The first day, I went with MichaMi’s Abigail. I threw on a scarf from the Maeva hunt to keep my neck warm. My legs, however, were forced to suffer the cold. I did keep my ankles warm with the Soho Boots from Maitreya.

 

The second sweater dress is from Riddle. I picked up this adorable Skully Argyle when they were having their recent sale. Once again, I paired the dress with a pair of Soho Boots. When I love a shoe, I tend to wear it a lot. Since the dress had a collar and cuffs, I wasn’t able to wear as much jewelry as I wanted to (I know, I know, I could have attached the jewelry elsewhere and edited it-but I’m too lazy). The ring is so much fun and a great statement piece. It is the Love Ring from Kandy Kitty. I wanted some fun earrings to go with the ring, so I ran to Fresh Baked Goods and grabbed their Bright Jelly Tots Dangle Earrings.

 

Other than the theme of wearing sweater dress and Maitreya’s Soho Boots, I also wore Rockberry skins and ETD hair with both looks. The first skin from Rockberry was from their Willow line, the second one from their Megan line (only available in their Lucky Chairs). The two hairstyles from ETD I wore were Yvette and Mia. I am seriously so thankful for their sale, since I decided to make the change from blonde to black hair (though now, I realized buying full color packs was to my advantage).

Gem’d Waist

I was lucky enough to run into Ms. Digit Darkes’ right before she released the new Cameo Gem Belts. And, even luckier that she gave me a preview. I don’t try to hide that I am a huge Digit Darkes’ fangirl, so that was definitely a recent SL highlight.

The detailing on this belt is stunning. I’m not a big belt or jewel person, but this piece was so gorgeous it drew me in. Since the belt is such a stand-out piece, I chose to go with a plainer outfit. The outfit consists of pieces from MichaMi’s Joanie set. I must add that I am quickly becoming a MichaMi fangirl, as well. Her pieces are so easy to mix and match!

For my hair, I ran next door to Diversity. I had purchased this style for my alt, but had to have it for Tiffer. The Brooklyn style is one of those great styles that you can dress up and dress down. The textures on Diversity’s blacks is fantastic, too.

Decoding Twilight: Bella

 We have finally reached the end of my little Twilightseries. I hope you all have enjoyed reading it as much as I have enjoyed putting it together! With just a little over 12 hours until the movie opens (squeals like a schoolgirl), it is time to meet our lead character, Bella Swan.

The author of the series, Stephanie Meyers, doesn’t go into too much detail of Bella’s appearance. She wanted it to be easier for the readers to step into the characters shoes. The description that she does give of Bella is that she is average height and weight, pale skin, and wide chocolate eyes. She has straight, dark brown hair and wears little make-up.

Choosing a shape for Bella was simple. Averie Larnia of Hourglass Shapesis also a fan of Twilight and made a dollarbie based on Bella as portrayed by Kristen Stewart in the movie. This is still available in store! I went with a skin from Rockberry’s Willowline again, because some of the make-up options were very low maintenance. The eyes are from Adam and EVE, called Turkish Delight. For the hair, I went with the Jessica style from ETD.

I chose to do two looks for Bella, the first being a casual look. The shirt is a simple long sleeve top from ETD. I chose these jeans from Kari because of the holes in them. Bella is extremely clumsy, so I imagined her jeans taking most of that damage. The boots are a warm, comfy pair of Ughs from Jeepers Creepers. I also grabbed a messenger bag fromSn@tch for Bella to throw all her school stuff in.

My second look for Bella is her prom look. I used the same hair and shape. The skin is also fromRockberry’s Willow line, this one just has a little more make-up around the eyes. The most important part of Bella’s prom look, however, is the dress and the shoes.

We get a brief description of Bella’s dress in the book, mainly that it has blue in it. The rest, I used my imagination. The book tells us that the dress is high-fashion, so I knew I had to go with a piece from Digit Darkes. This is theDinka dress, and I liked everything about it for Bella. The length I thought was great, and the draping around the waist. I also loved the pattern, and that it wasn’t too much. As for Bella’s shoes, we do learn from the book that Alice forcing her into a pair of heels. These blue heels from Angels matched the dress perfectly.

Meet the Darkside of Twilight: Victoria

In this little Twilight series, we have so far met the “good” vampires- Alice, Rosalie, and Esme. Just like every other story, though, Twilight has a villain. Our female villain is Victoria. Victoria, unlike the “good” vampires, feeds on humans. She is also out to destroy our modern Juliet, Bella (who is NEXT in this series!). Victoria is described as having wild, fiery hair and as being feline like. Also, her eyes are red and not amber, since she feeds on humans, instead of animals.

With the other characters, the shape was the main component in creating them. However, with Victoria, her trademark was her hair, so that is where I started. From what I’ve seen, House of Heart creates the best curled styles on the grid. This is their Princess style in Blood. After the hair was chosen, the shape came next. I went with shape designed for Tuli’s Meredith line from Hourglass Shapes. The skin is once again from Rockberry, this one from the Megan line (and the Lucky Chair at the store!). The stunning red eyes are from Sn@tch.

I felt like Victoria would be somewhat stereotypical and wear a long coat, and this coat from Wrong fit the bill. The jeans are the Badass Jeans from Sn@tch that have been hanging out in my inventory forever. I knew to compliment the black of the outfit, I wanted to go with red to pull from Victoria’s hair. The undershirt is from Thimbles, and the boots I stole from my poor alt. They are simply called Red Boots and are from Marteens.

Welcome to Twilight: Esme

So far in this Twilight series, you have met Alice Cullen and Rosalie Hale. Next up is Esme Cullen, the last female member of the Cullen family (or clan).  Esme is the mother figure to the family. She was turned into a vampire when she was in her late 20’s. She is described as being 5 foot 6 inches with caramel colored hair. She is slender, but does have some curves. Like the others, she has amber eyes and pale skin.

For Esme, I actually used my normal shape, which is no longer available on the grid. The skin I chose is from Rockberry’s Willow line. I liked that the makeup is not overdone, but still mature looking. I wanted a face-framing, timeless hair style, and ended up going with another hair I picked up at ETD’s sale, Trinitee.

As for the clothing and jewelry, I wanted a sophisticated, yet timeless look. Since Esme is a vampire playing the role of a mother to four kids and a wife to a doctor, I needed to make sure she looked the part. The outfit is made up of different pieces from the Agnes and Stella sets fromMichaMi. You can’t get much more classic than pearls, so I chose a pearl necklace and bracelet from theXOXO Collection at Caroline’s Jewelry.

Welcome to Twilight: Rosalie

I hope you all enjoyed part one of my Twilight series on Alice Cullen. Next up, is Rosalie Hale, another member of the Cullen family. I must admit, out of the three characters I’ve shot so far, Rosalie was the hardest! Probably because her main description we are given of her is that she is the most beautiful person in the world. She is tall, around 5 foot 10 inches, and has the body of a fashion model. She has long blonde hair, and like the others in her vampire family, has amber eyes.

I knew that picking the right shape was key for creating the most beautiful woman. I went with the shape designed for Rockberry’s Megan line from Hourglass Shapes. I pictured Rosalie always having perfectly done make-up, including red lips, so I went with a skin from Fleur’s Allure line. [I just want to add here that the main reason I didn't choose to use theRockberry skin is because I wanted to show just how versatile Hourglass' shapes are.]

As for the clothing, Rosalie *knows* she is gorgeous and is incredibly vain, so I dressed her for the chilly atmosphere, but still gave a bit of skin. The top and scarf is a newer release from Sn@tch. For 250L you get numerous autumn colors of the sweater, and a color changeable scarf. The skirt I’ve had in my inventory for awhile. It is the Celebrity Mini Skirt from Adam n Eve. For the shoes, I went with Truth’s Huntress Boots, since they are stylish, but still great for the woods of Forks.

Welcome to Twilight: Alice

Hi, my name is Tiffer, and I am addicted to Twilight. Part of what dragged me back to SL was the idea of doing a series with avatars based on the characters in the book. So, here is this series that I am giddy with excitement over doing!

 

If you have never heard of Twilight, first let me say Zomg! run to a bookstore ASAP! Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, let me break down Twilight for ‘ya. Twilight is a series of books by Stephanie Meyers’ that focuses on a teenage romance between a human and a vampire. Kinda like a updated Romeo and Juliet, ‘cept with vampires and fights and werewolves. The first book, Twilight, is about to hit the big screen (7 days!!). The upcoming movie is what really drew me to do this series.

 

With the background of Twilight out of the way, let me get to my first character, Alice Cullen. Alice happens to be my personal favorite character, so I chose to do her first. Alice is described as very petite (under 5 feet), almost pixie like. She has short black hair, with Amber eyes (a Cullen family trait since they feed on animals instead of humans). She has a special ability of being able to see into the future. Out of all the characters in the series, she is the shopping addict (my kinda girl!).

Let me start with the shape. I used a shape from my good friends shop, Averie Larnia. Her shop is called Hourglassand she designs shapes based on different skin lines. Oh, and she is having a sale NOW thru November 21st-everything buy one, get one free. The shape I am using happened to be from the Starlust Trash Hunt. It is from Hourglass’ Halloween series and is called Blue Blood-Alice (coincidence, I swear). The hair is from ETD. The style seemed perfect for Alice. The eyes are from a (new to me) store called Cipria Couture. The skin I am using, though not intended for the shape, is from a new fave of mine (also thanx to Averie!) Rockberry. This is from their Willow line.

Since Alice resides in cold, rainy, cloudy Folks, Washington, I had to make sure I dressed her properly. This adorable coat is the Agent Debbie from Thimbles. The jeans are an old dollarbie from VG, and the shoes are one of the Heather Boots, one of the newer releases from ETD. I must also mention that all the poses I used are from Imperial Elegance- Sai P. is a fan of Twilight, as well, so it seemed fitting to use her poses.

Double Dose of Cupcake

Cupcakesis one of those fabulous little stores that has kept me as a fan for about a year now. Since I’ve recently came back to SL, I knew I couldn’t run crazy around the grid and snap up all the new fashions. Instead, I went digging through my inventory (recent inventory woe: my whole folder devoted to full pant outfits has gone m.i.a…grr). Once arriving on my folder titled Cupcakes, I was able to keep myself dressed for two days.

The first outfit reminded me of something Katy Perry would wear. Ms. Perry is always in cute little rompers, and while I adore her style, it’s definitely not made for many people to duplicate iRL. Thank gawd for virtual fashion! This was a group gift from Cupcakes, but alas I don’t know the exact name. I know, bad blogger.

The outfit comes with three options for the top-suspenders, black belt, and silver belt. As you can see, I went with the black belt. Since it is fall, I threw on a pair of tights from a fat pack I picked up atIvalde.

The second outfit kinda just pulled itself together, and I honestly fell in love with it. Honestly, I had no idea what half of the items in my Cupcake folder looked like, so I was just putting on everything. Then, I stumbled upon this dress and knew this was going to be the foundation for my outfit. This dress was also a group gift from Cupcake. I must mention that there is a 250L joining fee for their group-but the gifts are plenty, so it more than pays for itself. Once again, since it is fall, I threw on my Short Leather Jacket from Cubic Effect to keep warm in this strapless dress. To keep my legs warm, I put on my SoHo Boots from Maitreya.

I also adore the hair I’m wearing! It’s the Lisa II style from ETD. And, I must add that the sale at ETD is insane! Everything is around 30L, so packs of everything are super cheap. I bought a ton and did not even dent my wallet! The necklace is a great piece I’ve had from JetDoll, but never wore. It is their Swallow Your Heart necklace. The skin is one of my faves from Tuli, the Sultry style of Emily.
